- ➤ Dillard's is closing its store at The Shops at Willow Bend in Plano after nearly 25 years as an original anchor, leaving the mall with fewer retailers. Speculation grows that the 107 acre site—losing Neiman Marcus and Macy's earlier—is being considered for a new arena for the Dallas Stars if they leave their current venue after their lease expires in 2031. - ➤ Plano's dining scene will soon welcome three new restaurants as Flying Fish moves into the former Dickey's BBQ space on Preston Road in January. Desperados is set to open in the Willow Bend Shopping Center this fall and TRŪ Bowl Superfood Bar will have a soft opening in January—followed by a March grand opening at The Shops at Granite Park. - ➤ Plano ISD announced three administrative appointments—director of IT support, CARE director, and director of digital learning and innovation—to strengthen its education programs after board approvals on Sept. 25 and Oct. 7. - ➤ Collin College Career Center was named a winner of the 2025 Handshake Career Spark Awards — placing it in the top 2% among 1,500 higher education partners — for its strong work with students and employers. This is the second time the college has earned the award and reflects growing participation from students and local businesses. Plano Magazine

- ➤ After months of construction, Plano’s Tom Muehlenbeck Recreation Center will reopen Dec. 4 with a ribbon-cutting at 6 p.m. at 5801 W. Parker Road—full operations will resume at 5 a.m. on Dec. 5 after renovations update the children’s pool play area, locker rooms, indoor track, and cardio room. Plano Magazine
- ➤ DART started the Silver Line on October 25, connecting seven North Dallas cities including Plano with a direct link to DFW Airport. The 26-mile route features 10 stations—like Plano’s Shiloh Road and 12th Street—that offer modern transit options. Plano Magazine

- ➤ Matt Riccardi from Plano is teaming up with Michael Finley to run the Mavericks’ basketball operations on an interim basis after GM Nico Harrison was fired—he joined the team in 2022 and was promoted to assistant general manager in 2023.
