COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Plano residents will join the 8th annual Turkey Trot on Nov. 27 at Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve with options including a 5K run/walk, a 5K untimed race, a fun run for young runners and a 100M dash for children. Registration costs are $60 for adults, $24.99 for kids and free for those under 8 — proceeds will support Source of Hope, which provides wellness and education to those in need.  KERA

BUSINESS NEWS

  • USAA cut the ribbon on a new building at its Plano campus on Wednesday that will boost the site to house 3,600 employees by 2026—CEO Juan Andrade said the move was driven by local talent and strong revenue results. The company also announced a $500M, five-year plan to support veterans with better job training, financial tools and mental health programs.  The Dallas Morning News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The FAA announced today that Dallas and Houston airports will face a 10% flight cut—staffing shortages from the government shutdown have forced this decision. Southwest, American, and United said affected passengers will be automatically rebooked as the shutdown continues.  FOX 4 News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Angela Maples got a new kidney from Amanda McCowen—Joshua’s ex-wife—helping her turn a hard time into hope as she recovers from weeks of dialysis. The donation has built a new bond in a blended family that looks forward to healing and better days ahead.  FOX 4 News
