CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ This October, Plano will host many events — including an art hunt at McCall Plaza, a music festival at Red Tail Pavilion, and a spooky haunted walk at The Texas Pool. Other planned events feature holiday shopping at the Plano Event Center, art exploration at the Plano Art Association Gallery, multicultural celebrations at Haggard Park, a nostalgic music show at Lexus Box Garden, a live cult musical at Willow Bend Center, and a bridal expo at the Plano Event Center. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Collin County offers contact information for local officials in Plano, Frisco, McKinney and Allen so residents can report issues and get help. The county website lists phone numbers, email addresses and meeting times — making it easier to reach city council offices and county departments. The Dallas Morning News
- ➤ Traffic on northbound U.S. 75 is backed up as TxDOT crews work on converting HOV lanes between I-635 and SH 121 into technology lanes that operate only during peak hours. The project, which started in March 2024 and covers areas including Plano, Richardson, Dallas and Allen, is more than halfway complete and will finish in late 2026. The Dallas Morning News
- ➤ Residents in Plano must register to vote by Oct. 6 to be eligible for the Nov. 4 election that includes constitutional amendments, local races, and bond propositions — early voting will begin on Oct. 20 and end on Oct. 31. NBC DFW

- ➤ DFW area high school football teams hold top state rankings this season, with the Week 6 list from Texas Football magazine showing wins that kept teams like Southlake Carroll and Allen undefeated—Prosper won 48—20 over Plano East and many schools maintain strong records.
