  • Gwen Workman, who founded The Wooden Spoon 37 years ago, died last week after suffering a massive brain bleed and having her breathing tube removed on Saturday. The store stayed open today—honoring her wish as staff invite locals to share their memories of her and the business.  Plano Magazine

  • Broken Yolk Café announced expansion plans for Collin County and is considering new restaurant sites in Allen, Frisco, and Plano—its move targets offering more brunch spots in the region.  Plano Star Courier

CULTURE NEWS

  • Plano alum Matthew Tolzmann will release his memoir Feces Navidad—detailing his 1988 Christmas at Clark High School—on Oct. 1. The book recounts his early Plano ISD days and the local figures who shaped his holiday memories.  Plano Magazine
  • This morning, the Plano Symphony Orchestra named five finalists—Mélisse Brunet, Filippo Ciabatti, Gonzalo Farias, Jacob Joyce and Stilian Kirov—for its music director search as longtime leader Hector Guzman prepares to step down after four decades. Each finalist will rehearse with the orchestra during the 2026-2027 season, and a new music director will be named in 2027.  Plano Magazine

  • Seven local junior golfers have returned from an incredible experience competing at Pebble Beach—the renowned course where they played with professionals during the Pure Insurance Championship. The high school players credited First Tee with strengthening their skills and inspiring a deeper love for the game.  NBC DFW
  • The Cowboys and Packers will play on Sunday, Sept. 28 at AT&T Stadium with kickoff at 7:20 p.m. The Cowboys, coming off a record of 1 win and 2 losses, will try to improve while missing injured wide receiver CeeDee Lamb.  NBC DFW
