- ➤ Residents can join the 2025 H-E-B Central Market Plano Balloon Festival at Oak Point Park from Sept. 18 through Sept. 21, which features hot air balloon launches at 7 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday—events include balloon glows, fireworks, live music, a 5K run, and more. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children and seniors while on-site parking costs $15 and accepts only credit cards, debit cards, or Apple Pay. FOX 4 News

- ➤ Plano ISD is hosting info sessions on Davis, Forman, & Armstrong as it seeks community feedback on school changes after four schools closed due to low enrollment and aging buildings. Students and teachers moved in 2025, and feedback from 2023-2024 is guiding the district's future plans. Plano Star Courier
- ➤ Tejasvi Manoj, a 17-year-old student from Plano, was named Time magazine’s 2025 Kid of the Year for creating Shield Seniors—an app that uses AI to help older adults spot and report online scams. She started the project after her grandfather nearly fell for a scam and now plans to expand the tool to keep more seniors safe. The Dallas Morning News

- ➤ Collin County Animal Shelter in McKinney suspended dog adoptions when canine distemper cases emerged last week – the shelter is quarantining exposed animals, notifying adopters, and keeping cat adoptions open. Residents are urged to update their pets' vaccinations. The Dallas Morning News
