- ➤ The 2025 Plano Holiday Parade—presented by the Rotary Clubs of Plano—will feature a western theme with cowboy hats trimmed in tinsel, boots full of candy canes and cacti strung with twinkle lights on Saturday, December 13. Organizers said those wishing to decorate floats can sign up online until Nov. 22. Plano Magazine
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ PepsiCo’s research and development team in Plano is testing new recipes for Doritos and Cheetos that use natural vegetable dyes like beets, radishes, paprika, annatto and turmeric instead of artificial dyes—and early consumer tests have shown promising results. The company plans to apply similar changes to its Lay’s and Tostitos chips by the end of the year. NBC DFW
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Dallas Area Rapid Transit will open its new Silver Line on Oct. 25th to connect Plano, Richardson, Dallas, Addison, Carrollton, Coppell, Grapevine and DFW International Airport. The transit agency will offer free rides on the Silver Line until Nov. 8th and host festivities at selected stations—live music, cultural performances and family programming. Plano Magazine
- ➤ Plano City Council approved a property tax rate increase from 41.76 cents to 43.76 cents, marking the first hike in 16 years. City leaders said the measure was needed to boost emergency funds and address a shrinking tax base—challenges driven by an aging housing stock. The Dallas Morning News
