- ➤ North Texas Giving Day returns as several Plano nonprofits open donation sites to support community needs—helping animals, children, health conditions, and food insecurity. The event offers locals a chance to contribute directly to pressing causes in our community. Plano Magazine
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Three Plano ISD middle school students—Matthew Kuo, Terri Lv and Rajveer Savla—earned a spot among the top 300 competitors nationwide in the Thermo Fisher Scientific Junior Innovators Challenge for projects on fuel cell energy efficiency, TBCO and biodegradable plastics. On September 17th, 30 finalists will travel to Washington, D.C. to present their work and receive awards from the Department of Defense STEM Education Consortium. Plano Magazine

- ➤ Dallas Area Rapid Transit will cut bus rides and change light rail weekend schedules to save $24 million a year when changes start in the first quarter of 2026; the board also will stop seven bus routes and add two new GoLink zones in Addison + more service in Plano to support local riders. The Dallas Morning News
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Scientists are urging health officials to consider Chagas disease endemic in the U.S.—the parasite from kissing bugs has been found in Texas among wildlife and pets, although experts say North Texas residents are at low risk due to less efficient local bug species. Early diagnosis and treatment remain key to managing the disease if infections occur. The Dallas Morning News

- ➤ Trophy Club Byron Nelson won a match over Keller Timber Creek on Tuesday by scores of 25-10, 25-18, 25-18 and boosted its winning streak to 60 matches while losing only one set in its last 37 games.
