- ➤ The East Plano Islamic Center filed a lawsuit in a Travis County district court on Wednesday to allow continuation of its Islamic funeral rites halted by a Texas Funeral Commission order from March — attorneys say that stopping these services has affected over 11 families — and argues the order violates constitutional rights. - ➤ Texas lawmakers have passed a law that requires convenience stores to use electronic scanners at checkouts to verify IDs - a measure pushed by a North Texas mother who lost her son in a drunk-driving crash - and stores must follow the law immediately. They have two years to install scanners - a deadline set by the state - to help stop alcohol sales to minors. FOX 4 News
