  • Former Dallas Cowboys cornerback Kelvin Joseph faces a wrongful death lawsuit after a June 7 crash on North Central Expressway near Park Boulevard in Plano killed 27-year-old motorcyclist Cody Morris, a mother of two—police charged him with driving while intoxicated after he delayed calling for help and failed field sobriety tests, while Morris's family seeks over $10 million in damages.  FOX 4 News

  • The Plano Mayor’s Summer Internship Program has placed over 1,000 Plano ISD students in paid, eight-week internships since it started in 2014. It partners with local businesses and Capital One to offer rising juniors and seniors work experience in fields such as technology, finance, and healthcare — helping them build key professional skills.  Plano Magazine
  • Plano ISD student Faizan Zaki, 13, won the 2025 Scripps National Spelling Bee after seven years of hard work and intense practice—he recovered from a slip in round 21 to clinch the title amid media appearances and praise from leaders. His win marks the end of his national spelling career, and he now plans to focus on math, playing the viola and joining his middle school basketball team.  The Dallas Morning News

  • Collin County commissioners voted on June 9 to switch to hand-marked paper ballots for future elections—voting rights groups say the change risks human error and violates open meetings law. The groups sent a letter urging public discussion before the switch is finalized.  KERA
  • The Plano City Council approved the $8.15M purchase of Armstrong Middle School from Plano ISD— plans for redeveloping the 17.85-acre site will follow community engagement later this year.  Plano Star Courier
