  • A Plano family was reunited after 18 months apart when violence in Haiti kept them separated until an operation brought their little girl home—NBC 5 reported the emotional reunion. The reunion ends a long period of hardship for the family.  NBC DFW

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • DART is considering board changes as suburban growth gives member cities more say, and legal counsel Gene Gamez said new population data will guide the reapportionment process—board chair Gary Slagel noted cities may soon choose their board member while some Dallas representatives worry about losing input. The agency will finalize these changes on Sept. 1 with more briefings scheduled before the next board meeting on June 24.  KERA

SPORTS NEWS

  • Young soccer players in North Texas train at FC Dallas’ Youth Camp in Frisco—6-year-old Davis Grandin practices dribbling and shooting with his peers. The camp will boost skills as excitement builds for FIFA World Cup 26, which will bring a big chance for local talent in about a year—sparking dreams of joining the FC Dallas Academy.  NBC DFW
  • Local organizers unveiled a countdown clock at DFW International Airport’s Terminal D last Wednesday to mark one year until FIFA World Cup 26 and announced Dan Hunt and Nina Vaca as co-chairs of the North Texas organizing committee. The tournament will begin on June 14th at AT&T Stadium with 48 teams, and it is expected to bring $1.5—$2 billion in economic development along with roughly 150,000 international visitors per day.  NBC DFW
