- ➤ Texas lawmakers passed a new school discipline law that gives teachers more flexibility to manage student behavior—allowing extended in-school suspension instead of off-campus punishment. - ➤ Faizan Zaki, a 13-year-old from Rice Middle School in Plano who finished second last year, advanced to the final round of the Scripps National Spelling Bee that began at 7 p.m. on Thursday among nine finalists & marked his fourth year competing.
