Good morning, Plano.

Over the weekend, nine people died in four separate crashes on North Texas roads, including a fatal police pursuit in Grand Prairie—where a driver evading arrest hit a disabled car—and head-on and wrong-way collisions in Grayson County, Plano, and on the Dallas North Tollway that are under active investigation.

San Martin Bakery will open a new Plano location near Preston Road and Spring Creek Parkway in November 2025—its space will be airy with live plants and a self-service bakery area selling Guatemalan breads and pastries.

With two weeks left in the Texas legislative session, lawmakers are working on bills to change school funding, reform bail rules, modify lottery oversight, shift Dallas elections and limit some hemp product sales — all issues that may affect local families and North Texas communities. Gov. Abbott, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick and other leaders have worked together this session and will make final decisions before the session ends.
