  • Collin College named Glenn Callison as the new Place 1 trustee + he will serve until the May 2027 election and be sworn in at the Jan. 30 board meeting.  Plano Star Courier

HEALTH NEWS

  • Mountain cedar pollen and rising flu cases have many Plano residents wondering if their symptoms are from allergies or a virus—doctors note that allergies bring itchiness and congestion while the flu can cause fever and body aches. Experts advise seeing a doctor if symptoms worsen.  NBC DFW

SPORTS NEWS

  • Bal Joshi, a 42-year-old runner from North Texas, is training for the World Marathon Challenge and will run seven marathons across seven continents starting Jan. 31 in Antarctica and ending Feb. 6 in Miami — he will also raise money for charity while honoring his Nepalese heritage.  NBC DFW
  • The Lady Panthers lost 53-39 to Cedar Park on Friday night — defensive struggles resulted in their first district defeat. The game raised questions about the team’s play as they work to improve in upcoming contests.  Plano Star Courier
